Our annual 'Joulu@TAYS' concert in the University Central Hospital this year was on 16 December, with a more varied playlist and larger audience than normally; it was also referenced in an Aamulehti article several days later.
'Joulu@TAYS' was, once again, a fitting end to a successful year for Sivuääni.
This excerpt (Mp4) from Michael Story's arrangement of Here Comes Santa Claus was one of the concert openers.

On 10 December we performed in Tampereen Cathedral for the 50th Anniversary of the Christmas Carol Service, sponsored by ICCK Tampere, the Tampere Finnish-British Society, the Anglican Church in Finland, and the Lutheran Parishes of Tampere. The playlist included pre- and post-service music and accompaniment of two of the carols. See this 3.50 highlights video [Mp4] by Sivuääni clarinetist Yrjö Lähde and his team.
On 19 November we performed at TAYS for the third year in support of Tampereen lastenklinikkan tuki ry, welcoming Pouta Possu back to the TAYS children's playground for the winter. As always, it was a warm and lively event, highlighted by the children.

Medisiinariorkesteri Sivuääni was honored to play for more than 1200 participants in the opening ceremonies of the 19th IVV Olympiads on 14 August at the historic Pyynikki Sports Field. It was a splendid occasion, multilingually narrated by sports journalist Kaj Kunnas for the teams from 27 countries. Athletes and musicians alike had a great time.
Sivuääni began playing as the teams marched into the field (see 3-minute drone video as we play Frank D. Cofield's Dixieland Strut). Other opening music included Hans Kolditz's arrangement of When the Saints Go Marching In, Frank D. Cofield's arrangement of John Philip Sousa's Manhattan Beach and John Edmondson's Big Band Dixieland.
Midway through the ceremonies our musical interlude featured Kaisa Turunen singing Dave Wolpe's arrangement of Cole Porter's Night and Day, and Pertti Salminen's arrangement of Matti Vesanto's Pyynikki-valssi. Later, as the Finnish and IVV flags were hoisted, we played Juhani Leinonen's full-band Fanfaari.
Finally, as the ceremonies concluded and the athletes departed, we played John Warrington's arrangement of Larry Shields and H. W. Ragas' Clarinet Marmalade and the classic Miles-Zimmermann Anchors Aweigh, as well as Johnnie Vinson's arrangement of Glenn Osser's Beguine For Band. [Sivuääni videos by Markku Uusitalo]
